We took the upstairs apartment that was cheap, which means storage for Henrietta. Ah, well. The house thing seemed so great, but the owners were totally not ready for renters. That’s a long and boring story. So in the end, Derek and I were so stressed and scared that we decided to take the place he had put a deposit on, just so we would have a place. And so we would not loose the $400. It’s not so bad, except for the smokers downstairs, which, nothing against them personally, but I just have a constant headache whenever I’m at home. And we have ants. And no microwave. But for $700 a month, what can you do?
We can’t hear anything from the outside or downstairs. The air-conditioning works great, I never have a cold draft, nor is it ever too hot. Washer and Dryer! Dishwasher! Those are luxuries that I think I will get addicted to.
And we’ve only had one thing stolen, because Calvin left it out overnight. And I think I’ve lost a couple of pounds from hauling stuff up the stairs. And the local elemantary school is the coolest place I’ve ever been. It’s actually a Primary Village, where there are only Kindergarten and First Grades. They have a cooking classroom.
I’m disjointed because we still have no internet, and I’m at the public library, with a time limit, but at least we have a place to live. Yay! One of these days, I’ll go for a run.

We had ants a couple years ago, I tried everything. Then I found Terro. Could I sound more like a commercial? It’s true though, Terro totally worked for us.
The only bad thing was that I had to order it online since no stores carried it around here. You can call your local stores to see if they carry it.
It was important to me that it be non-toxic but actually work. It was inexpensive too, only 8 bucks or so. Check it out!
Dishwasher, washer, dryer, all necessities of life.

I’m so glad you have a place to live! You’ll eventually find a great house. When I have had ants, I have gotten just some of the little stick on things that you can buy in the grocery store and put in the cabinets–that usually takes care of it pretty fast.
How are you adapting to that nice midwestern humidity?

An appartment, appliances and AC, oh my! Yay! And that school–I want to go back to first grade!

My heart goes out to Henrietta! She must feel lonely. I think I hear her cry. Not that I want to make you feel bad
Good luck in your new home!

I’m glad you found someplace to put your hat — for now — even if it’s not ideal. I am crossing my fingers that this will give you breathing room to find someplace perfect, and in the meantime, the school sounds amazing.
On a totally unrelated note, thank you for turning me onto Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World a couple of posts back. I ended up getting two copies, one for a vegan friend who just got married, and one for myself. I made our sitter the gluten-free vanilla cupcakes for her going-away party, and they were savored by everyone, including the kids.

One question. Do you have the normal size Western version of ants or the gigantic long as your little toe Pennsylvania Ants there in Ohio. Because if someone had told me about the ants here before we moved, we would not have moved.
ICK!
PS: Glad you’re not homeless. That’s one less thing to stress about. That school sounds awesome!
