I think I’m going to protect all of my future posts that include photos of my kids. I will give the password to friends and family (that includes cyberfriends, although I won’t be offended if you don’t really care about the pics). I might be turning a little paranoid, but there’s always time to repent of that later. I think I will send the password via email to everyone that comments regularly, as well as all the family members who read but don’t comment (shame on you!).
Does anyone know a good way to upload videos but still keep them private? Because I’ve only used youtube in the past.

I’ve been using vimeo.com which does have privacy settings for videos. And since at least one of your family members uses it, you clearly must đ
If you find other good video services, I’d be interested to know about them.
Were there any specific events that prompted this new attitude? Any particular fears?

You can make youtube vids private, just for those that you invite to view.

I use the Google Video (under your menu settings in your account) and set the videos to private.

I’ve been thinking about the security issue evern since I mentioned–without using any names–that my backyard neighbor had just been diagnosed with cancer. A regular male commenter on my blog–someone I’d neve met–replied in the comments using my neighbor’s name. Which meant somehow he had figured out exactly where I lived. Kind of creepy.

Hey there – maybe this is bad timing, since you’re worried about privacy, but…I’ve tagged you for a meme for sharing 8 little or unknown things about yourself. Someone tagged me at http://www.angelawd.wordpress.com and I am passing along the joy to someone I like to read about. If youâre not interested, no problem but if you are interested, you just list your 8 things and then pass it along to 8 others. My post for this is up now. Take care!

NungNung, I just have read too many other people’s posts about finding their kids pictures in catalogs, other websites, and other weird places. And I sometimes check the search terms used to find my blog, and there are things like “cute little boy pictures” and “innocent baby photos.” That is a little worrisome. I know the motives could be pure, but it’s also possible they’re not.
Janaremy, hello and thanks for the info. I went and changed the settings for my 3 youtube videos to private.
Zuc, I might go try out google video too, just for fun.
CW, ewww! That’s good enough reason for me.
Angela, sure, I’d love to. I’m all too eager to post about myself. I will just be more careful from now on with details like location and info about the kidlets.

We are all being more careful now aren’t we.
Good for you.
Count me in

Hey Sarah, I enjoy reading your blog. I think keep pictures private is a smart idea. I will try and comment more đ
